Concrete & Hardscapes — Patios, Walkways & Driveways

The built framework of the yard — poured and paved on a base that keeps it level for good.

A patio is only as good as what’s under it. We build paver and concrete hardscapes — patios, walkways, driveways, and seat walls — with the base preparation, compaction, and drainage that keep them from cracking, settling, or heaving through Bay Area seasons. Built as the structure the whole landscape is organized around.

How we approach concrete & hardscapes

  1. 01

    Base & compaction

Proper excavation, base rock, and compaction — the step cheap installs skip and pay for later.

  2. 02

    Drainage built in

Slope and drainage are set so water sheds off the surface, not toward the house.

  3. 03

    Set & finish

Pavers laid tight or concrete poured and finished to the specified texture and color.

  4. 04

    Edge & seal

Restraints, joint sand, and sealing where appropriate to lock everything in place.

Concrete & Hardscapes — common questions

Pavers or concrete — which is better?

Both have a place. Pavers flex with the soil and are easy to repair; poured concrete gives clean modern lines. We walk you through the trade-offs for your lot, use, and budget.

Why do some patios crack or sink?

Almost always inadequate base prep or drainage. We over-build the base and set drainage from the start, which is what keeps a hardscape level for the long run.
